Compiled by DJ Arash Atman, manager of the Samothraki Dance Festival Chill stage, Polymorphic Convolutions is the first compilation to be released by Athens based down tempo freestyle label Electronic Soundscapes Records.
Featuring a selection of exclusive and previously unreleased tracks from some of the world's most innovative chillout producers, Polymorphic Convolutions transports the listener to the shady beach stage at Samothraki – the ultimate chill destination, where many of these artists performed live.
The album begins with Adham Shaikh's track Ohm - a mellow atmospheric masterpiece which introduces us gently to the sonic voyage that's about to begin. Don't be confused by the name, it means inner resistance but needs none to drift away to a typical Samothraki Chill Stage morning, watching the sun rays making their way through the trees.
The second track, defines the dub oriented direction of the journey, with Solar Quest's Tolker's dream (Samothraki Remix) - track that melts traditional Indian sitar with modern electronica dubbed out baselines.
Next track, is Zen Lemonade's Lotus Eaters, taking the journey from the dubby vibe to a tripped out tune that sets standards for clean productions and also adds a tech and fresh perspective to alternative dub.
The follow up, is a tribute to Samothraki's chill stage and Patchwork's Samothraki sets the bpm bar higher and takes the sonic voyage to a more tribal groovy direction.
Adham Shaikh's Somptin Happnin' remix is the funkiest and most uplifting version of this well-known tune.
Mauxuam and his track A Lot of Sound, gives us a much more psychedelic perspective. It's an amazing track that was conceived by Mau on his journeys between India and South Africa.
Legion Of Green Men are next and this time they are remixed by Adham Shaikh. The Constellation Remix was one of the summer hits in the Chillout stage.
Next one comes Grey Area and his unique Time is the Fire masterpiece, that brings down the listener and gives him a chance for a deep breath, while maintaining the uptempo chilled approach.
And to finish things off, comes Ishq's epic Ankh (Samothraki Remix), that brings the journey back to earth and thentakes you on an Eastern sonic voyage when you are least expecting it.
